Has anyone tried the side double taper for the dred. on other body styles and sizes? with what results. What could be expected if it were used?

When you say "double taper" are you refering to the "wedge" where the body also tapers from trebel side to bass side?
If that's the case, I'm about to embark on one. Haven't done it yet though. I see potential problems with the lining and binding as they both will have to have compound curves. I think what most people do is add a given amount (say 1/2" to 1") to the trebel side and take that same amount away from the bass side. This way the volume of the box is not changed. Mine will be on a "SIG" which is roughly an SJ model.
